The oilskin coat has been part of the Australian landscape since the first settlers gave up their seamen’s oilskins and took to the land. In an era when horse was supreme, the waterproof coats protected the horse and rider from the torrential rain and icy conditions of the high mountain country and even spread to the dry desert region where cold dewy nights prevail.
Our oilskin finish contains paraffin waxes especially formulated to provide a surface which is neither too wet nor too dry and yet impart the water repelling and soil removal properties unique to oilskin fabrics.
